Freelance Police
James LePore is yet another lawyer turned author, but readers should not let that turn them away from this decidedly talented writer's first foray into thriller writing. The sharp intellect required for legal work combines here with a skilled photographer's eye for detail, making LePore's story both convincing and absorbing.
The Plot of A World I Never Made
Protagonist Pat Nolan receives a call from the police in Paris that his semi-estranged adult daughter, Megan, has committed suicide. He flies to France to retrieve her body, only to find that it isn't her. Several oddities about the situation lead him to believe Megan wanted to appear to be dead, so he tells the police that the body is hers, then sets about finding her, following the clues she has left him.
With the help of the requisite beautiful French policewoman, Nolan traces Megan's path across Europe and into Northern Africa. As he learns more, he finds himself hunted by both the French police, the Saudi government, and a gang of ruthless terrorists.
